iTunes Check
A hotkeyable floating window to tell you the current song in iTunes.

About
iTunesCheck is a program that I wrote after checking out several other programs and not
finding exactly what I wanted. For example, Yellow Mug Software
has a product that allows you to skip/rewind and rate with hotkeys. It's exceedingly good but it doesn't
display anything. PTH used to have something called iTunesNotifier (or the like) that would pop up a
window to show you the song whenever it changed, but it was buggy and didn't have hotkeys. Then it
got incorporated into You Control, and again it is utterly
fabulous software, but costs money.
So iTunesCheck will pop up a window whenever you push a hotkey combo showing the current song. It also allows
you to use hotkeys to rate the current song, go forward and back, and adjust the volume. It features quick play,
so if you're jonesin' for a song you can type in the name/artist and it will play for you.
Yes, all of these things are, of course, available directly in the iTunes interface. But I find it cumbersome to
have to switch to iTunes just to figure out what song is playing. This is faster.
Changelog
- 5/4/2004 - version 0.45 - download
- Fixed display so that with long song titles the window won't go off the screen
- Removed checkbox to enable/disable window animation. It never worked right, caused problems, and was actually not useful. Disabling animation was intended to speed up display time but ended up just making the display look laggy.
- Fixed bug where if you changed the background color while iTC was running, the find window wouldn't reflect the change
- Updated display so that when a particular item is missing, it removes the line it would have been on. This provides a more compact display when information is missing.
- Updated display setup in preference pane to handle font panel better
- 5/3/2004 - version 0.4 - download
- Added customization for info window. You can now customize the font, as well as what appears, with a variety of different things.
- Added checkbox to enable/disable window animation
- Cut down on the amount of memory needed by iTC (I think...)
- Added border to windows, decreased corner size on quick play window
- Fixed scripts to work with streams
- Fixed scripts to handle missing values correctly
- Fixed bug where if you quick played a song, then paused, then played again, iTunes would start playing a different song
- Fixed a bug where if the song you quick played didn't exist, iTC would just display a blank window
- Generally cleaned up the code for maintainability
- 5/1/2004 - version 0.3 - download
- Added exciting icons
- Added checkboxes to enable/disable hotkeys
- Added quick play
- Added volume up/down controls
- 4/26/2004 - version 0.2 - download

- 4/25/2004 - version 0.1
