About

iTunesCheck is a program that I wrote after checking out several other programs and not finding exactly what I wanted. For example, Yellow Mug Software has a product that allows you to skip/rewind and rate with hotkeys. It's exceedingly good but it doesn't display anything. PTH used to have something called iTunesNotifier (or the like) that would pop up a window to show you the song whenever it changed, but it was buggy and didn't have hotkeys. Then it got incorporated into You Control, and again it is utterly fabulous software, but costs money.

So iTunesCheck will pop up a window whenever you push a hotkey combo showing the current song. It also allows you to use hotkeys to rate the current song, go forward and back, and adjust the volume. It features quick play, so if you're jonesin' for a song you can type in the name/artist and it will play for you.

Yes, all of these things are, of course, available directly in the iTunes interface. But I find it cumbersome to have to switch to iTunes just to figure out what song is playing. This is faster.
